What Are the Cards Showing Us About the Future? 13/9/2026

I asked the cards a series of questions about where humanity may be heading - particularly around artificial intelligence, future catastrophes, war, families, housing and now cryptocurrency.

What came through was not a picture of the world simply ending. It was considerably more complicated than that.

Artificial Intelligence

The cards strongly suggest that AI can become a serious problem as its capabilities continue to grow. The greatest concern does not appear to be AI simply becoming "evil", but rather the enormous power it could give to those using it to create and implement new systems.

The cards showed power, money, strategy, conflict and activity taking place behind the scenes. More importantly, they suggested that the people who believe they can control these increasingly powerful systems may eventually discover that they cannot control every consequence. What is created to increase control may ultimately create problems for the very people who believe they are in control.

The cards did not show an inevitable destruction of humanity. Instead, they showed a serious reckoning - a point where people may have to confront what has been created and make difficult choices about how it is used.

Future Catastrophes

I also asked whether there would be further catastrophic events on a scale that could wipe out large portions of the population. The cards did not give me the impression of a single event that wipes out the planet or leaves only a handful of survivors.

What they showed was more consistent with serious regional catastrophes, disruption, displacement and eventual rebuilding.

There is survival in these cards. There is movement away from danger. There is also a strong indication that people continue to rebuild their lives and establish new forms of stability afterwards.

War

War is another possibility that cannot be ignored. The combination of the King of Wands, Knight of Swords, 8 of Swords and Devil is particularly striking when asking about conventional, boots-on-the-ground conflict. This suggests powerful leadership, rapid military action, people becoming trapped in circumstances they did not choose, and systems of control or coercion.

I would not interpret this as proof of a single worldwide war. The cards appear more consistent with serious conflicts affecting particular regions rather than the entire planet simultaneously.

Families, Homes and Relocation

Perhaps the most interesting part of the reading concerns families and where people live. The sequence of 4 of Wands, Devil, 10 of Cups, 6 of Swords and King of Pentacles caught my attention.

The 4 of Wands represents home and community. The 10 of Cups brings families into the picture. Between them sits the Devil - a card that can represent financial pressure, dependency, restriction or being trapped within a system.

The 6 of Swords then shows movement away from a difficult situation, while the King of Pentacles brings us back to land, property, money and material security. This could represent increasing pressure on households and homeowners, eventually forcing some families to reconsider where and how they live.

That pressure could come from many different sources - taxation, housing costs, economic conditions, regulation, conflict or environmental disruption.

Cryptocurrency

I also asked whether cryptocurrency will rise significantly before the end of the year and reach new highs.

This spread was surprisingly encouraging. 9 of Pentacles, Ace of Wands, Knight of Wands begins with financial gain, followed by a new burst of energy and then rapid movement.

But the 10 of Swords suggests there may still be a painful setback or final flush before the larger move develops.

Then comes Queen of Cups, 8 of Swords, showing uncertainty, fear and emotional frustration - perhaps a period when investors begin wondering whether the expected move is actually going to happen.

And then we get the Sun.

The final sequence is particularly interesting: Sun, Knight of Pentacles, Chariot, 8 of Wands. The Knight of Pentacles slows things down. The Chariot is ready to move but may not yet have everything lined up. Then comes the 8 of Wands. Fast movement. Momentum. Acceleration. It almost looks as though the 8 of Wands is saying to the Chariot:

"Let me show you how it's done."

So, while I would never treat tarot as a financial guarantee, this spread gives me a strongly positive indication for cryptocurrency making a significant move and potentially reaching new highs before the end of the year.

I don't believe tarot should be used to claim certainty about future events. What it can do is reveal patterns, possibilities and questions worth examining.

And perhaps the biggest question coming through all of these readings is: What happens when the systems we create become more powerful than our ability to control their consequences?
